i also got this on october tenth... but i didn't want to overshadow my auction for Caiden so i kind of kept it to myself.
although... i'm not quite sure why every time i enter my paintings somewhere, they always capitalize the titles... i specifically do not capitalize my titles.
anyway...it was quite unexpected. but very encouraging. it also came with a cash prize. [refer to photo one] here is the painting...

I dislike the new popularity contest thing that Clint did to the boldbrush competition. I don't send anything in anymore just for that reason.
maybe I'll throw you a bone on that and vote for you anyway though.

Agree with you on the popularity point. It seems to me to be more about who has the most friends to vote than quality works. But whatever, I figure if i can stay on teh first page, it's exposure. Which after 4 years of not exhibiting.. I kind of need.

Is the gesso board the panel you usually use? I just purchased the "hardboard" variety to try for the first time. I've made my own panels before, but love the nice cradles on these.

Thank you Karen!! yes, i do use the ampersand gessobord all the time now (despite a closet full of canvas). i also have some dick blick brand one's too, which aren't bad, but i don't like the texture on those too much.
plus... ampersand is a super-awesome company, they will make custom panels and cradles for you. i special ordered a bunch of clayboard mounted panels last year and it was a great experience. the cradles work great with my paintings and i lightly stain and seal them which gives a nice natural look.
let me know what you think of the hardboard... i just don't have time to prep my own panels right now.
