small work in progress...

work in progress © 2011 christine mercer-vernon

i've been ignoring things like brushing my hair... and vacuuming, just so i can squeeze in short little painting sessions the past few days.

before i jump back into this larger painting i wanted to warm back up with a few smaller works.

plus my etsy shoppe could use some fresh paint.

yesterday i resisted the temptation to throw this painting across the room, frisbee style.

then stomp on it.

i'm glad i did.  today i entered the 'i think i might pull this off stage'.

it's going to take me a few sessions to finish the final layer, i've just started refining details (upper right quarter of walnut). but it feels good to be painting.

i could have picked a smoother nut though. :][

my palette thus far...

Vacuuming is highly overrated... and can always wait. (;

Can't wait to see the close up.

Oh Yeah, cleaning and nice hair are just repetitious chores that get in the way of good art :D
By the way I just saw your husband's? the blog about snakes in the Everglades an insidious problem which fascinates and repels me at the same time. Frightening. I'm off to read about it.

Indeed Mary!! i may not be able to control the bigger things that get in the way, but the little one's i can just eliminate (as long as i don't have to leave my house) LOL

python hunter is my brother. i love the wildlife he gets to see, very fascinating and beautiful scenery. but when you look at the size of some of the pythons he is removing... totally horrifying. :] thanks for looking, he'll appreciate that.
